Snap has introduced its Specs augmented reality glasses along with a new AI assistant called Specs Intelligence.

The Verge reports that Specs Intelligence is designed to connect various digital accounts to assist users with tasks such as work and travel information. Snap describes it as an anticipatory AI service intended to help manage daily attention and progress toward longer-term goals, and users can also chat with it. The Verge notes its similarity to other AI assistants like Meta's Muse and Gemini's Spark. Specs Intelligence is available on iOS.

Regarding the Specs augmented reality glasses, The Verge highlights shared digital experiences, such as playing virtual dominoes on a real table with another person, as a key feature that distinguishes them from other VR headsets or smart glasses. Wired News indicates that Snap views these smart glasses as the future of human computing. According to Wired News, the glasses, described as chunky and pricey, are powered by a new AI app and offer capabilities like language translation and improving a golf swing. The Verge mentions that Snap has dedicated over half a decade to developing AR glasses technology, producing two prior generations of glasses that did not widely ship.
