Microsoft Abandons Surface Hub Touchscreen Display Line

Technology giant Microsoft is discontinuing production of its Surface Hub 3 large touchscreen display designed for collaborative office use, sources close to Windows Central have revealed. Additionally, plans for a Surface Hub 4 upgrade have also been scrapped.

The Surface Hub 3, which featured a built-in personal computer, was announced in 2015 as a key component of Microsoft's strategy for Windows 10. Initially, it was available in 50-inch and 85-inch display sizes, pricing at $8,000 and $20,000 respectively.

Micorosft has faced declining interest in the Surface Hub line, which was once a core part of its Surface hardware offerings. Other underperforming Surface products, such as the Surface Studio all-in-one, Surface Duo, and Surface headphones, have also been discontinued.

The Surface Hub line has weathered significant changes within Microsoft, including the departure of former Surface chief Panos Panay in 2023, who joined Amazon.
