French sports brand Van Rysel and airbag technology specialist In&motion have developed a lightweight airbag system that deploys in milliseconds after detecting a crash. The airbag is integrated directly into a "race-ready" skinsuit, making it a seamless and streamlined solution for road cyclists.

"The development of this system is a significant milestone in road safety," said Van Rysel. "We are working closely with professional riders to ensure that this technology is effective and intuitive in high-pressure situations."

The current version of the airbag system is undergoing final validation ahead of potential race deployment. Once validated, it is expected to be released to the general consumer within the next two years.
